WIN initiatives in Nigeria

Community Integrity Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization based in Delta State has received financial support from WIN secretariat in Berlin, Germany to hold participatory meetings and a concerted workshop with members and actors in the water sector in Edo, Enugu and Delta States of Nigeria . Among the objectives of these meetings and workshop are development of tools and methodologies to increase transparency, integrity and accountability in the water sector, formation of National working group and sharing of knowledge needs for action.

WIN, formed in 2006, stimulates anti-corruption activities in the water sector locally, nationally and globally. WIN is an action oriented coalition of organizations and individuals promoting water integrity to reduce and prevent corruption in the water sector on a global scale. WIN’s membership includes the public sector, private sector and civil society. It was founded by some of the most active and well-known international water sector organizations and leading global anti-corruption organizations; Transparency International, The IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), The Water and Sanitation Program (WSP). WIN welcomes organizations and individuals that view the anti-corruption measures as central to equitable and sustainable development, economic efficiency and social equity. The work of WIN is to promote solutions for actions and forming coalitions between civil society, public and private sector, media and governments. The advantage of coalitions is to take actions in ways that individuals or single organizations cannot. The overall development aim of WIN is to reduce poverty by fighting corruption.
