Mexico country mission and Voices of Corruption videos

WIN conducted a country mission to Mexico in November where the mission was two-folded. The first part consisted of taking part in the 1st IWA Development Congress in November in Mexico City, during which WIN organized a workshop on “Water Integrity, Transparency and Accountability”. The focus of the workshop was to highlight various strategies to promote water integrity by drawing on examples from around the world, which was made by a key note speech by Transparencia Mexicana (Mexico) and four presentations by RAS-HON (Honduras), IRC (The Netherlands), UN-HABITAT (Kenya) and ISAGEN (a Colombian member of the International Hydropower Association). In addition, the workshop was utilized as a platform to showcase, as well as debate, various approaches to combat corruption in the water sector through a panel discussion chaired by Nelson Medina, WSP (Nicaragua).

The second part of the mission was to map the situation in Mexico concerning a possible WIN country coalition there and to meet with interested actors, both from civil society, government and the private sector. Transparencia Mexicana served as host for most of these meetings and is taking the lead in the work to form a possible WIN country coalition.
