III. WIN Regional Workshop: Latin America

This workshop focused on different approaches for identifying and combating corruption in the water and sanitation sector at the sectoral, institutional and community levels, involving the private and public sectors, civil society and the donor community. Experience, both positive and negative, were shared from projects in Latin America and further afield.

Objectives

This joint workshop brought together water and sanitation sector and anti-corruption focused professionals and community leaders in Latin America to share ideas and experiences. It lead to:

• Widely shared existing experiences, problems, opportunities and ongoing activities in Latin America relating to transparency, corruption and accountability in water and sanitation, and best practices in anti-corruption.
• New partnerships between water and sanitation and anti-corruption professionals and organisations.
• Ideas and commitments for joint regional and country level activities to improve transparency and accountability and prevent corruption in the water and sanitation sector in Latin America
