This presentation from the 1st Water Integrity Forum of 2013, provides some insight on large-scale land acquisitions in Ghana and Mali, outlining the water integrity risks associated with the practice. It appears that water aspects of land acquisition are often overlooked. The situation has a serious economic, social and environmental consequences.
The presentation closes with an outline of strategies to improve integrity in land deals and better take into account water dimensions. Better regulation is one path presented.
