Sensitization of contractors/partners
Familiarize contractors/partners with integrity issues and the project owner’s values and norms.
DESCRIPTION
To sensitize contractors means to familiarize suppliers of goods and services with integrity issues and with the project owner’s values, norms, and integrity systems. The project owner can even add a clause on compliance with integrity standards into contracts as a way of formalizing the sensitization.
PURPOSE & LINK TO INTEGRITY
The aim of sensitization is to foster fairness, honesty, and mutual trust between the project owner and its contractors.1 Sensitizing contractors on integrity issues raises their awareness and may lead to the initiation of integrity change processes within their businesses. Furthermore, when informing contractors about possible sanctions, a project owner can increase the likelihood that contractors will comply with integrity standards. Adding clauses on compliance with integrity standards to contracts can even legally bind contractors to comply.
