About the event

In many countries, youth have very limited participation in essential conversations and decision-making processes. In the water and sanitation sectors, this is particularly striking. Youth movements can however be key to improving integrity in water and sanitation by ensuring broader participation, raising awareness on key issues, and holding decision-makers accountable.

The Kenya National Youth Water Parliament, established in 2022, is an example of a promising youth-led platform that is influencing sector governance.

In this Integrity Talk, we will explore the pivotal role of youth in addressing new sector risks and bringing change with integrity.

Speakers from Kenya will present the work of Youth Parliaments reviewing campaign promises. Speakers from Bangladesh will shed light on the role of youth for advocacy and awareness raising on integrity, with examples of campaigning against sextortion. We will also discuss ways to organise, ways to support youth movements, and opportunities for exchange.

With esteemed speakers:

  • Cynthia Chigwenya, African Union Commission
  • Amiya Prapan Chakra Borty, Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation (DYDF)
  • Felix Brian, Kenya Water for Health Organization (KWAHO)
  • Charles Amenya, National Youth Water Parliament - Kenya
  • Boluwatito Awe, Nigerian Youth Parliament for Water

Moderated by: Johana Arita, World Youth Parliament of Water
