About the event

Regulation plays a critical role in ensuring that water and sanitation services are delivered to all individuals in a manner that is equitable, efficient, inclusive, and sustainable. Regulators are given the important responsibility of guaranteeing access to safe water and sanitation services without any form of discrimination, while also ensuring the honest use of financial resources. However, integrity failures often undermine the regulatory contribution to the sector. We'll discuss these failures and what to do about them at this Integrity Talk, organised in partnership with ESAWAS. 

How must regulation evolve to address integrity failures and corruption and to foster integrity? We'll look at two approaches in particular. Regulating for integrity means developing comprehensive regulation that encourages and ensures honesty, transparency, accountability, participation, and ethical behaviour among mandated entities. Regulatory mechanisms can also be developed to prevent corruption, fraud, conflicts of interest, or any other unethical practices that could compromise service,…
